Login Service
Method for establishing login sessions
|
Netdata |
Creates a virtual connection to another asynchronous port on a different PortMaster, or allows clear channel TCP network connections to other hosts on the network. The default TCP port number for netdata is 6000, but you can enter an alternate TCP port, if required, in the text box next the Login Service drop-down list. The serial port on the remote PortMaster must be configured as a host device with the netdata device service, and the same TCP port number. |
|
PortMaster |
(Default). Preferred login service because it makes the port operate like a serial port physically attached to the host and is the most efficient service. To use this service, you must install the PortMaster daemon in.pmd on the UNIX login host. |
|
Rlogin |
Rlogin is supported by many UNIX hosts and is the next most efficient service after the in.pmd login service. Rlogin is generally used on mixed UNIX networks. |
|
Telnet |
In a network where mixed hardware and operating systems will be used by this port and the previous two services are unavailable, telnet should be selected. The default TCP port number for telnet is 23; you can enter an alternate TCP port if required in the text box next the Login Service drop-down list. |
