Connecting to a PortMaster

You connect to a PortMaster to get real-time debug output from a particular user. If you want past-history debug output from a user, see Reading a Log File. If your activity remains idle for a certain amount of time, the PortMaster will disconnect you. If a connection is lost, you can reconnect to the PortMaster without logging back in.

To connect to a PortMaster

From the PortMaster menu, select "Connect."

  1. In the Connect dialog, type the PortMaster IP address or hostname, and your username or hostname, and password.

  3. The PortMaster appears in the list at the top of the UserTracker panel.

Note - If this is the first time you have connected the this particular device, its IP address or hostname remains in the PortMaster pull-down list in the Connect dialog so you do not have to type the IP address again.
