1999/4/30 LocationWizard 1.0b1 Open Beta Release Note LocationWizard is a configuration wizard to create location entries for use with PortMaster products. LocationWizard is based on Sun's Java Virtual Machine 1.1.6. Version 1.0b1 of the LocationWizard is available for open beta to any Lucent customer at no charge. _______________ Contents About LocationWizard Template Files Limitations System Requirements Installing LocationWizard Running LocationWizard Technical Support _______________ About LocationWizard LocationWizard was designed to do the following: * To provide a step by step process to create a new location entry. * To allow this location entry to be saved to either a PortMaster or a configuration file. * To allow the user to save specific settings as a template. This allows the user to run the LocationWizard against this template file and enter only the settings that are different between location entries. _______________ Template Files When saving a single location to a file, you can select the option to save the location as a template. On the summary screen, you will see a checkbox next to each configuration option. These checkboxes denote configuration options that should be changed when the wizard uses the template file. When the LocationWizard reads the template file, it will only display the panels that correspond to these selected configuration options. All non selected configuration options will be saved to the newly created location. _______________ Limitations LocationWizard 1.0b1 has the following known limitations: * SLIP and X.75 protocols are not currently supported. * NAT configuration is not currently supported. _______________ System Requirements LocationWizard is a Java-based product that can be run on any system with JDK or JRE (Java Runtime Environment) 1.1.6 or later installed. Nondevelopers can use the JRE rather than the JDK. Currently, JDK 1.1 and JRE 1.1 are available for the following platforms: * Windows NT 4.0 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ * Windows 95 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ * Solaris 2.5.1 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ * Solaris x86 2.5.1 http://www.javasoft.com/products/jdk/1.1/ * Linux 2.x ftp://lagrange.la.asu.edu/pub/Linux_jdk/ * FreeBSD http://www.freebsd.org/java/ * SGI IRIX 6.3 http://www.sgi.com/developers/devtools * HP-UX 10.02 http://www.hp.com/esy/go/java.html * Alpha Digital UNIX 4.0 http://www.digital.com/java/download/ * IBM AIX 4.1 http://www.ibm.com/java/tools/jdk.html * Macintosh http://developer.apple.com/java/ * All other Platforms http://java.sun.com/cgi-bin/java-ports.cgi _______________ Installation To install LocationWizard use the following steps: 1.
