FEATURES
- PortMaster 3 Integrated Access Server support
- PMconsole release 3.5.3 supports configuration of the new
PortMaster® 3 Integrated Access Server.
Earlier versions of PMconsole cannot be used with the PortMaster
3.
- ComOS 3.5 support
- When ComOS 3.5 on the PortMaster 2, IRX and Office Router is
released, PMconsole 3.5.3 can be used to configure those.
- New utility to dump filters
- pmdumpfilter displays the contents of all filters
that reside on the PortMaster. To use pmdumpfilter,
specify the following:
pmdumpfilter PortMasterName Password
- You can redirect the output into a file as follows:
pmdumpfilter PortMasterName Password >File
- BOOTP supported in pminstall
- The "PortMaster Internet Address Setup" option in pminstall now
uses BOOTP on all operating systems, including Win95 and WinNT.
- Console Port
- PMconsole now displays the console port (C0) for PM-2i
- PMconsole supports new features
- See ComOS release notes for more information on these features,
which can now be configured with PMconsole release 3.5.3. Some of these
features may not be available in some versions of ComOS. PMconsole
release 3.5.3 can also be used to configure previous releases of
ComOS.
- PAP, CHAP, and Serial Admin can now be enabled or disabled in
the global table.
- 5ESS-PTP and various new ISDN switch types are supported.
- On dial-in ports, maximum idle time can now be set in minutes or
seconds.
- On synchronous ports, Annex-D LMI may now be set for Frame Relay.
- In the User Table, maximum ports, session timeouts, and idle
timeouts can be set. Idle timeouts can be specified in minutes or
seconds.
- For ISDN calls, the phone number, username, and password can be
specified for a dial out location, to make it easier for the
PortMaster to authenticate itself using PAP or CHAP when dialing out
to other sites. CHAP can be enabled or disabled in the Location
Table.
- Multilink and Voice in the Location Table are now supported.
- ComOS 3.5 supports variable length subnet masks (VLSM), so
PMconsole 3.5.3 allows you to specify VLSM-style routes. For example,
to specify that only hosts 192.168.4.1 through 192.168.4.30 should be
routed through 192.168.4.1, you can now use the route:
192.168.4.0/27 192.168.4.1 1
BUGS FIXED
The following problems have been fixed in PMconsole 3.5.1:
- pminstall timeout of 60 seconds has been changed to
120 seconds. This was causing a problem when upgrading PortMasters
with ComOS of 3.3.3 or later which takes approximately 70 seconds to
erase nonvolatile flash memory.
- The terminal version of PMconsole now shows special ports
(C0, P0, W1 or Ether1) when there are less than 6 total ports, such
as on the OR-LS and OR-HS.
- The PMconsole location script buffers were not getting cleared when
logging onto different boxes.
- The PMconsole view ports window was not displaying the correct
headers when first opened.
- On the DEC Alpha platform, PMConsole was not finding the shared
object libraries libolgx.so.3.2 and libxview.so.3.2. The pmconsole
script has been changed to look for those libraries in the
appropriate platform directory. NOTE: This was only a problem on
the DEC Alpha platform.
The following problems have been fixed in PMconsole 3.5.2:
- The PortMaster crashed when performed upgrade from ComOS 3.3.3
(or earlier version) to ComOS 3.5.
- The pmdumpfilter did not work properly on the supported platforms.
The following problem has been fixed in PMconsole 3.5.3:
- The install function of the PMconsole can now be used to upgrade or
downgrade the software.
- When Port Type is configured to use Dialnet, the Xon/Xoff option
is now displayed as an option.
RESTRICTIONS
1. PMconsole 3.5.3 cannot delete routes from the static routing
table.
2. The Route Table under PMconsole 3.5.3 does not display all
static routes.
