Release Notes for ComOS 3.1.2 --> 3.1.4

SUMMARY:

This document describes bug fixes made to the PortMaster operating system between release 3.1.2 and 3.1.4. There were no enhancements made in this release.

pm2_3.1.4   This release runs on PM-2, PM-2R, PM-2E,
            PM-2ER.
pm25_3.1.4 This release runs on PM-25.

Bug Fixes

  1. Sending a BREAK command in telnet during an administration session to the PortMaster would cause a system reboot. This has been fixed and telnet BREAK is now ignored during these sessions.
  2. A theoretical firewall attack scheme to bypass "Established" filter rules now has protection. In previous releases it was theoretically possible to bypass a packet filter which used the "tcp established" rule by sending IP packets with overlapping fragments. The new release checks for these packets and denies them to eliminate this possible attack. Also in 3.1.3.
  3. An ethernet lockup problem that existed in 3.1.3 that would cause it to stop transmitting in some network environments, has been fixed.
  4. The Annex-D protocol used with Frame Relay on the W1 port of the PM-2R and PM-2ER has been enhanced to achieve compliance with the ANSI standard and standards defined by the Frame Relay Forum. These changes do not affect standard operational capabilities. Also in 3.1.3.
  5. The device driver for the W1 port of the PM-2R and PM-2ER has been improved to detect and recover from certain types of line data errors correctly. Also in 3.1.3.
  6. V.25bis dialing has been fixed to work properly on the PM-2R and PM-2ER products.
  7. When setting a DLCI list for Frame Relay on the W1 port, the PortMaster would not update the DLCI list in the configuration if the port had a login prompt set for it. This has been fixed. Also in 3.1.3.
  8. SNMP queries for the software release level now return the correct release. Also in 3.1.3
  9. The maximum size of a file stored in the Flash file system was increased from 64K to 120K to allow for very large filter rule tables being stored in the PortMaster.
  10. Previous releases allow filters with blank names to be added. This release will not allow blank filter names.
  11. A bug in IP packet reassembly within the PortMaster was fixed.
  12. The command "set all host" has been fixed.
  13. The command "set all login network twoway" has been fixed.
