This is to ensure that the Plug&Play recognition of Windows 2000 is working properly. Copy all listed driver files to a formatted disk (or a temporary directory). Uninstall all display adapter devices under CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM/HARDWARE/DEVICE MANAGER/DISPLAY ADAPTERS. Remove your floppy disk and reboot your system. 2.2 Installation Windows 2000 uses Plug&Play functions to recognize your display adapter. Here is how (devices may be recognized in a different order): 1. Device recognized. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" will guide you. - Click "Next" - choose option "Display a list of the known drivers ..." - click "Next" - choose "Display Adapters" - click "Next" - click "Have Disk..." and choose the directory from (2.1) - click "Ok" - choose entry "ELSA AG GLoria L/MX (Delta) - click "Next" twice, then "Yes". Now the driver is going to be installed. - Click "Finish. - Do not restart the computer yet. 2. Device recognized as "ELSA AG GLoria L/MX (GLint MX). Click "Yes" to continue the installation. 3. The installation of the display driver is finished now. Remove your floppy disk and reboot your system now. Note: Depending on your monitor Plug&Play will recognize and install a monitor device. 2.3 Verification Open CONTROL PANEL/DISPLAY/SETTINGS. Verify you can read " on ELSA AG GLoria-L/MX (GLint)". You should now be able to use a resolution higher than 800x600. 2.4 Adjust Refresh Frequencies Click "Advanced" Button on Display Property Page. Go to Monitor Property Page and use the DropDown-List "Refresh Frequency". ------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Known Bugs - Clipping problems when moving 2D windows over OpenGL viewport - No hardware support for DirectDraw - Limitation: no tools included - Limitation: no uninstall function - After toggling a DOS-BOX from fullscreen mode to window mode a "busy" mouse pointer may appear on the desktop. Change the resolution or disable pointer shadow to make it disappear. - The DEVICE MANAGER may mark the "S3 ViRGE" device with an exclamation mark, this is due to a limitation of Windows 2000. Anyway your Display Adapter is working properly. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 4 Troubleshooting ------------------------------------------------------------------- 5 Change History 5.36.00.416 ----------- initial driver 5.36.00.432 Beta ----------- rebuild for Windows 2000 RC2 5.36.00.436 Beta ----------- rebuild for Windows 2000 Retail
